Preserve, Promote & Enhance our small town way of life.

The Baltimore Downtown Restoration Committee (BDRC) was founded in 2007 as a volunteer organization dedicated to making Baltimore’s unique dual downtown areas more appealing places to live, shop, dine, work, or visit. Inspired by the Main Street organization model, the group has undertaken many different projects and programs as both the community and the organization have changed over time. The BDRC is now a 501(c)(3) non-profit and our mission is to work with village leaders and citizens to enhance Baltimore’s downtowns and overall village vitality.

Our goal is to keep our members and supporters informed about what is happening in the Baltimore area, and about the various programs and events organized by the BDRC.

Local poets and writers, along with the Poet Laureate of Ohio, Kari Gunter-Seymour gathered for an evening of spoken word performance on Nov. 7, 2025. Kari, an award winning poet and author, and numerous other local writers shared their poems and stories on the beautiful Victoria Opera House stage. Kari Gunter-Seymour is the Executive Director of the Women of Appalachia Project. Learn more about Kari’s work here: https://www.karigunterseymourpoet.com/ . All proceeds from the event benefited the ongoing restoration of the historic Victoria Opera House.

If you see the lights on at the Victoria Opera House, that means something special is happening! We recently lit the House for the Victoria Players Children’s Theater’s production of Goosebumps the Musical: Phantom of the Opera House. On Nov. 7, we lit up for the First Poetry Night. Coming this December, we’ll light the house again for all the holiday festivities and for the theater’s upcoming production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. As we roll through 2026, watch for our lighted house for all events at the Victoria.

2025 was a great year as we celebrated the 200th anniversary of the village! Thanks to everyone who supported us this year, and we hope you enjoyed all of our centennial items. We still have bottles, cow bells, baseball tees and picnic blankets available for purchase at the Victoria Opera House. To become a sponsor or make a donation, use this link for more information.

Baltimore Downtown Restoration is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization, independent of Village government. We receive no tax dollars or outside funding. The bulk of our operating funds come from donations, grants, and fundraisers.
Your donation is vital to the success of our mission to preserve, promote and enhance the village’s historic dual downtown areas to ensure these historic areas support our small-town quality of life and village pride.

The BDRC meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7pm at the Victoria Opera House. Visitors are always welcome, as are volunteers who seek to preserve history, enhance the quality of life in Baltimore, or give back to the small town that offers such a great place to raise a family, run a business, or work in. Victoria Opera House

Built in 1905, the Victoria Opera House is the last remaining historical opera house in Fairfield County. The theater ceased functioning as a movie house in the early 1960s and the auditorium was turned into a catch-all storage space. In 2013, the BDRC acquired a lease from the Baltimore Village and has been working to update and maintain the building ever since. More work needs to be done.

Join us in saving this beautiful theater.
