Our History
The Baltimore Downtown Restoration Committee (BDRC) was founded in 2007 as a volunteer organization dedicated to making Baltimore’s unique dual downtown areas more appealing places to live, shop, dine, work, or visit. Inspired by the Main Street organization model, the group has undertaken many different projects and programs as both the community and the organization have changed over time. The BDRC is now a 501 (c) 3 non-profit and our mission is to work with village leaders and citizens to enhance Baltimore’s downtowns and overall village vitality.
Membership
The BDRC is a non-profit organization, independent of Village government; therefore, we receive no tax dollars or outside funding. The bulk of our operating funds come from memberships, donations, grants, and fundraisers. Your membership is vital to the success of our mission
to preserve, promote and enhance the village’s historic dual downtown areas and to ensure these historic areas support our small-town quality of life and village pride.
Sponsorship
The BDRC holds many programs and events throughout the year and business establishments or individuals are invited to help sponsor any and all of these events. A list of current opportunities can be found on the selection form under “Sponsorship Opportunities.” Sponsors will also be included on our donor wall for any amount of sponsorship totaling $500 or more each year.
Renting the VOH
Be the envy of your friends and family. The Victoria Opera House, at 101 S. Main St., is now available for hourly, daily or weekly rentals. The VOH has recently been rented for birthday, graduation and retirement parties. It has been host to concerts, theater productions, holiday activities, square dances, fundraisers, heritage tours, State of the Village and town hall meetings. Wedding packages are also available. See our website for more information on renting this amazing space.
Board Meetings
Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of every month at the Victoria Opera House at 7pm. The meetings are open to the public, and we are always looking for new individuals interested in holding a seat on the board or helping a committee.
Planned Giving
Create a lasting legacy by helping the BDRC not only now but into the future. Planned giving and all gift donations can be made in the BDRC’s name through the Fairfield County Foundation’s Victoria Opera House Fund.

Chairish the Arts: for several years the BDRC collected donated and scavenged chairs and loaned them to the high school art class. The students painted the chairs, which were then sold to raise money to restore the Opera House.
